Empty your backpack:
Take out your belongings inside of your backpack that you don’t want to wash together or damaged by water, put them in plastic bag so later you won’t take so much time to collect all important things
Turn inside of your backpack out
Clean any personal items dirty if you don’t want to put dirty items back into your clean bag later.
Wash your backpack:
Use your hands to brush dirt and dust off
Use a wet rag to lightly wipe down the outside of your bag
Take off any detachable pockets and straps if possible and clean them separately.
Pre-treat any stains
Use any stain remover of your choice to take dirty away. Try to avoid abuse of bleach.
Use a soft brush (an old toothbrush) to scrub away stain residue. A brush will help clean areas that are particularly dirty, and a wet rag is better for general cleaning of the bag.
Use warm water to wash out . Avoid hot water because hot water can cause colors to be fader and shorten shelf life of your bag.
If you have use several pre-treatments but not successful, you can use brush diluted in 50:50 solution of liquid detergent and water.
If your bag is made of a delicate material like mesh, you might want to use a sponge instead of brush to prevent damaging its fabric.
Rinse your backpack thoroughly
Rinse any soap or detergent in warm water to remove soapy residue on fabric of your backpack.
Watch our zippers, straps and foam areas out so you don’t damage them.
Dry your backpack
Dry by natural sun shining rather than in drying machine by hang upside down. It will help de-odorize your bag.
Be sure that your bag is completely dried before next use.
